Guests here are greeted by the historical machiya appearance, a traditional style of architecture unique to Kyoto. This wooden building built in the early Meiji period has watched over Owariya from the time of its establishment. Guests enter the building walking under the evergreen magnolia tree and through the “takara (treasure)” shop curtain at the entrance. On the first floor, there is table seating, as well as a tea room (tatami room), while on the second floor, both table seating and tatami banquet rooms can be found. Enjoy the great taste of soba and sweets in a relaxed atmosphere. All seats are non-smoking at all times.
The Shijo branch is located on Shijo street, the most convenient location for Kyoto sightseeing and shopping. When you see the shop lantern and “takara” shop curtain, take the stairs down to the basement floor on the left of Shijo Center. Guests can feel at ease, away from the hustle of the streets in a cozy space. A great selection of “drinks and soba” is available in the evening including a wide variety of sake, shochu and side dishes.
Smoking is allowed in designated areas.
The Takashimaya branch is on the 7th floor of Takashimaya Kyoto department store, located at the intersections of Shijo and Kawaramachi streets. Close to bus stops and directly connected to Kawaramachi station of Hankyu Railway, it is also accessible to guests in wheelchairs. Owariya’s soba confectionery is also available at the Japanese confectionery area on the basement floor of Takashimaya.
All seats are non-smoking at all times.
