Honke-Owariya is opening up an experimental café for six months at our Nishiki-Tominokoji-store on Friday, September 18th. It is our way of introducing “creative and new ways to enjoy our traditional buckwheat sweets.”
Ariko Inaoka, owner and 16th generation at Owariya, is also a professional photographer working worldwide. Her experience has encouraged her to push the possibility of soba-sweets not only locally but also internationally.
With the help of our friend and internationally acclaimed chef, Masayo Funakoshi, we were able to create a collaborative project of Japanese tradition and world’s food culture. The café menu, directed by Masayo, includes three dessert dishes using our famous soba-mochi, soba-ita, and soba-bouro, and a lunch menu「today’s OWARIYA×MASAYO Tacos」made with handmade buckwheat tortillas. Food will be served on beautiful 1616/Arita Japan tableware.
